Red Oak - Resin Stabilised - Standard Pen Blank
American Red Oak (Quercus rubra - also known as Northern Red Oak or Canadian Red Oak), when freshly cut is a light biscuit colour with a slight pink tint, but the colour will darken with age. It has a coarse texture with a distinctive flecked grain.
The wood is medium to heavy and fairly hard. The open grain can lead to tear-out so keep your tools sharp.
This blank has been vacuum stabilised with a polymer resin to increase its hardness, strength and resilience.

Each blank is approximately 19 x 19 x 145mm (0.75 x 0.75 x 5.75").
The ends of the blanks are dipped in grain seal to reduce the chance of damage while in storage.
